Today the city of Milwaukee is enduring our first blizzard of 2010. We're used to this sort of stuff. The plows are out in force, the schools are open. Thousands of cars across the city are wagging their trunks side to side down the slushie streets. As I labor with my shovel down my sidewalk, I can't help but think of the winters in centuries past. The people from that time would think we were totally insane. MOVE the snow? Take billions of pounds of snow, and shove it out of your way? If only there was a way today we could all just take the tires off our cars and replace them with sleigh runners. And everyone had snow shoes. Of course, then we would need horses....
